Who are we?
Martin is a highly experienced HR professional and entrepreneur with over twenty years experience in the fields of Human Resources, Training and Organisational Development. He set up Merlin as a way of bringing together qualified and effective professionals to provide business orientated workforce solutions to some of the issues modern workplaces face. He holds a BA (Honours) in Business Studies, is fully CIPD qualified to member level, holds the CIPD Certificate in Training Practice and Institute of Leadership and Management Level 7 qualification in Executive Coaching and Mentoring as well as being a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming.
Martin’s key strengths lie in being able to problem solve quickly and make decisions that will ultimately benefit the organisation. His key areas of expertise/experience lie within change management (group/directorate/company wide reorganisations and restructuring, redundancy handling, TUPE transfers etc), employment law/handling and advising on complex employee relations issues (from investigation through to employment tribunals), general HR advice (both at an operational and strategic level), HR staff management/mentoring/coaching, policy development/implementation (including a thorough understanding of terms and conditions), recruitment, selection and retention, project management and training/OD interventions.
Marie is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and has worked in Human Resources for more than 25 years. She has worked in the financial services sector and with small business before entering HR as a profession. Marie also has an honours degree in Psychology and is a member of the British Psychological Society.
Working predominately in the NHS during her HR career she is a senior HR practitioner with a vast experience of dealing with employment issues. She is skilled at identifying business focused solutions and a key strength is recognising the drivers underlying problem behaviours at work. A confident and competent HR practitioner who is experienced in providing clear concise guidance to resolve issues when they arise Marie has excellent communication skills that complement her can do attitude. She is analytical in her approach and has vast experience of coaching and guiding managers on how to handle difficult and challenging meetings. Marie recently became an NLP practitioner and trainer.
